| Ad Click | An "ad click" is the action a user takes by clicking on an online advertisement (such as a banner, a sponsored link on a search engine, or a social media post). This action redirects the user from the ad to a specific landing page, such as a landing page or e-commerce site. 2. What is it for / why is it important? The click is one of the fundamental metrics of digital advertising because it represents the first form of interaction and active interest on the part of the user. Unlike a simple view ( impression ), a click indicates that the message has captured the user's attention enough to prompt them to want to know more. It is the basis of the most widespread payment model, Pay-Per-Click (PPC) , in which the advertiser pays only when their ad is actually clicked. 3. When is it used / in what context is it useful? The concept is central to every form of digital performance advertising:
4. Practical exampleA user searches for "hotels in Rome" on Google. Among the first results, they see a sponsored ad with the text "Luxury hotel near the Colosseum - Book Now!". The user clicks this link. That action is an Ad Click . The hotel (the advertiser) will pay Google a small fee for that click, and the user will be redirected to the hotel's website to complete the booking. 5. Extra insightA click isn't a sale. A high number of clicks but a low conversion rate on the landing page is a red flag. It could indicate that the ad is attractive but the landing page isn't up to par (slow, unclear, mismatched offer), or that the target audience reached isn't the right one. The quality of the click is often more important than its quantity. |
