Simply put, they are the "places" where advertising appears.     • Display Advertising: Graphic or video banners placed on websites and apps.

A company launching a new energy drink for a young audience (18-25 years old) might plan a media mix like this:

  • Primary Media (Digital): Video campaigns on TikTok and Instagram (to reach the target audience in their natural environment), collaborations with fitness influencers.

  • Supporting Media (Offline): Sponsorship of music and sporting events and distribution of free samples at universities (Out-of-Home). Choosing these specific media is strategic because it maximizes the chances of reaching the right audience at the right time and place.

The major distinction between traditional and digital media lies not only in the channel, but also in the possibilities for interaction and measurement. While TV offers predominantly one-way communication, social media encourages dialogue and engagement.
